Phone-Safe provides you with a facility to send a hidden SMS command to your handset, using the thief’s new mobile number if necessary. This facility allows you to retrieve your contacts, either via a series of hidden SMS messages, or via email to an email address that you include in the SMS message.

Phone-Safe will automatically send an SMS (to the mobile number that you entered when you configured the programme) whenever an unknown SIM card is used in your handset. This SMS will be sent, without the thief knowing, and will give you the thief’s new mobile phone number, the unique number of the thief’s SIM card and will also remind you of the IMEI number of your handset. With this information you will be able to report the matter to law enforcement authorities and provide them with just the information that they require to catch the thief.

The IMEI number is unique to every single handset around the World. Providing this to the authorities will assist them in tracing your phone and hopefully catching the thief. At the very least the handset can be blocked by the networks, effectively turning it into a paperweight, of little use to anyone.

Initial version of Phone-Safe only works with handsets running Pocket PC or Windows Mobile 5. It is our intention that the next release will have an option for handsets running certain Symbian versions, as well as Linux.

The procedure is straight forward. Simply access the Website at www.phone-safe.com and proceed to purchase the programme. Follow the instructions and download to your computer. When you next sync your handset to your computer, the programme will automatically load onto your handset. You then need to configure the programme with your own personal data and your protection will be up and running.
